The PS3 has bunch of good features at it's disposal and is capable of many wonderful things, but despite the fact that you can do a lot of cool things with your PS3, player's are more focused on what they actually can't do. Over the years, instead of adding major features, SONY seems to be taking them away (backwards compatibility, Linux support etc), which is still a heavy blow to some. However, despite many updates so far, SONY has yet to add any of the features the players have been pleading for over the years, and even consider paying for, but it seems like SONY simply doesn't want their money. Instead, we get the option to change our profile colors, so that our friend list can look like a rainbow, yay.
CROSS GAME VOICE CHAT
The PS3, or PSN to be more accurate, has a voice and video chat room. The problem at hand is that you cannot launch a game while staying connected to the voice chat room. Instead the PS3 games rely on games that have online functions of their own to include voice support, but many simply don't have such features, especially older titles. Those that do, can only use it to chat with your team, you cannot talk to your friend while he is in his own game. When PSN Plus feature was first announced, rumors that members would have access to such a feature were spreading like the plague. At some point earlier in the lifetime of PS3, SONY has promised such an update, but later announced that such a thing isn't possible due to RAM constraints in the hardware. Kinda silly on their part, promising vital features then realizing it's not possible.
CUSTOM SOUNDTRACK SUPPORT FOR ALL GAMES
Numerous games have excellent music and soundtracks, however some games have terrible music, and some don't even have music at all, leaving you to play with nothing but silence in the background. Many players find this rather annoying and boring. Thankfully, some titles out there have a feature to play your own MP3s from your hard disk while you play, however these are few and far between. Custom soundtrack support should be a mandatory feature for every game today, just like Trophies are, especially for a powerful multimedia device such as PS3.
PSN NAME CHANGE
Many PSN users have grown tired of their current nametag or simply find it inapropriate for the games they have ended up playing. A lot of people didn't think they would have to stick with it forever. The only way to change your account name is to create a brand new one, but it goes without saying that you would have to leave all your Trophies and purchases behind, so that is out of the question. However, the Japanese PSN users have a nickname feature that apparently let's them change their displayed name at any time, but SONY doesn't seem interested in bringing such a feature to other regions, despite people even offering to pay money for such a service, and even limiting the usage of said feature to only a couple of times per year, or even less.
HIDE CERTAIN TROPHIES

When it comes to Trophies, people simply like to unlock them. Many people like to believe they are completionists and perfectionists, completing and unlocking everything there is, unable to leave stuff behind and only moving on to another adventure when done with all tasks. Sadly though, this is a dream many will end up throwing away because some Trophies are simply too hard or require some unreal conditions to be met. Simply installing a game once, provided it has Trophy support, will forever engrave it's existence into your profile, so even games you didn't like and might have decided not to play will forever stay there uncompleted, and that little 0% entry will be sticking out like a sore thumb in the midst of your triumphs. Many Trophy hunters (as they like to call themselves) wish for a feature that will let them sort trophies in a custom order, arranging their proudest accomplishments in the front row. Player's are screaming for an option to delete their Trophy entries, or at least hide them so they don't have to be reminded of their failures, but regardless such a feature has yet to be considered.
PSN STORE RETROACTIVE UPDATE
Some countries did not have access to the PSN store for quite a few years, but when they did eventually get access, the store was lacking many of the entries and purchases that were available in other region stores for years. These new stores receive regular updates with new content just as they should, but they still haven't been updated with any of the older cool stuff. I have been eyeing quite a few titles on PSN for some time now, like DeathSpank for instance, but I guess SONY isn't interested in taking the money I would gladly pay them.
